On May 1 an important event takes place in Sardinia: St. Efisio's celebration. This consists on a procession with the statue of Saint Efisio, that starts in Cagliari and ends in Nora, crossing several other cities in the island. It's the biggest procession in Europe and one of the most colorful things I've ever seen, and the city of Cagliari (extremely beautiful) is the perfect frame for it! (pictures from May 1, 2009)
Il primo Maggio in Sardegna si svolge un evento importante: la festa di Sant'Efisio. Si tratta di una processione in onore del Santo, che inizia nella città di Cagliari e termina a Nora, attraversando diverse altre città dell'isola. When spring arrives my toughts generally run quickly to summer, I'm already planning my holidays and I can't wait 'till august! Will I be able to work for other 5 months?!???? These pictures are from a super funny vacation in Ibiza and Formentera. I liked a lot the beaches and the sea in Formentera and I had a lot of fun in Ibiza (even if I found the nightlife a little bit transgressive for me, but if you don't experience it in your '20s, when???)
Quando arriva la primavera i miei pensieri corrono velocemente verso l'estate, sto già organizzando le mie vacanze e non posso aspettare che arrivi agosto!! Sarò capace di lavorare per altri 5 mesi??!???Guardare vecchie foto di indimenticabili vacanze passate è l'unica cosa che mi può aiutare ad affrontare altri lunghi mesi di duro lavoro! Queste foto sono di una divertentissima vacanza di alcuni anni fa ad Ibiza e Formentera. Mi sono piaciute tantissimo le calette e il mare di Formentera e mi sono divertita da morire ad Ibiza (anche se ho trovato la nightlife un pò troppo trasgressiva per me, ma se non la si prova a 20 anni, quando???)
Turisti e viaggiatori...qual è al differenza? Mi piace fare la turista, farmi scattare le classiche foto davanti ai monumenti simbolo delle città, comprare stupidi ed inutili souvenirs, mangiare nei ristorantini superaffollati, anche se nessuno in mezzo alla folla sembra essere un locale...non credo ci sia nulla di male; tuttavia essere un viaggiatore ha maggior fascino. Cosa significa per voi essere un viaggiatore? Per me calarsi il più possibile nella cultura del Paese che si sta visitando, vivere con i locali, intrecciare rapporti di amicizia, essere ospitati nelle loro case, imparare a conoscere la loro cucina, avvicinarsi al loro modo di pensare, di vestire (si avete letto bene) e di comportarsi. Alcune di queste cose si raggiungono col tempo, in maniera assolutamente inconscia, sono perciò necessari soggiorni di almeno qualche mese nel Paese che si sta visitando. A me è capitato. E per la prima volta, oltre ad essere una turista, mi sono sentita una viaggiatrice. Si dice che ogni città deve essere vista almeno due volte, la prima come turista, la seconda come abitante del luogo. Giustissimo. Mi direte, come trasformarsi da turista in viaggiatore senza trasferirsi a vivere o lavorare in un altro Stato e senza potersi permettere un anno sabbatico per girovagare per il mondo?!?? Con il couchsurfing. Si tratta di un progetto nato nel 2003 (per cui ormai ampiamente conosciuto e consolidato) con l'idea di creare una rete di ospitalità fra persone di tutto il mondo, permettendo a chi viaggia di risparmiare sulle spese dell'alloggio, e a chi resta, di viaggiare comodamente da casa propria interfacciandosi con persone di culture differenti. Comodo no??
Tourists and travellers...what's the difference? I like to be a tourist, I like to be pictured next to cities' major monuments, buying stupid and useless souvenirs, eating in crowed little restaurants where no one seems to be a local..I think there's nothing bad with this; by the way, being a traveller is more fascinating. What does it mean for you to be a traveller? For me, embracing as much as you can the culture of the Country you're visiting, living with the locals, becoming friends with them, be hosted in their houses, trying to learn their cooking, getting closer to their mentality, their way of dressing (yes, you've read right) and their behaviour. It takes time to achieve some of these things and mostly you reach them without realizing it, so you need to stay at least a couple of months in the Country you're visiting. All this happened to me. And for the first time, I felt to be a traveller besides being a tourist. It has been said that each city needs to be seen twice, the first time as a tourist and the second time as a local. Right. You'll ask me, how can I switch from a tourist to a traveller without moving to another Country and without taking a sabbatical year to go around the world?? With the couchsurfing. This is a project born in 2003 (so it's widely known) with the idea of creating a hospitality network between people from all over the world, so that who travels can afford the accomodation without spending a fortune, and who stays, can travel comfortably from his own home interacting with people from different cultures. Convenient, isn't it?
Oltre a couchsurfing, negli anni sono nati numerosi altri network simili, uno di questi è Tripping.com iscrivendosi a questo sito, ci si può mettere in contatto con gli abitanti del posto che si sta visitando, che possono ospitare o fungere da guida turistica, per mostrare ai viaggiatori la vera vita del luogo, introdurli alla loro vita quotidiana e fargli conoscere i loro amici e la loro famiglia, un vero e proprio scambio culturale in sostanza!!! Besides couchsurfing, other similar networks have been created in the last few years, one of these is Tripping.com signing up to this site will let you to be in contact with many locals of the place you're visiting, who can host or become a special touristic guide to show travelers the real life of their city, introducing them to their dailylife, their family and friends, in short, a real cultural exchange!! Un altro esempio è homeforexchange.com , questa volta ci si scambia l'intera casa e l'intera vita!!! Scelta coraggiosa e forse un pò rischiosa....ma sicuramente interessante!! Lo scambio di casa è stato protagonista al cinema di una commedia romantica di qualche anno fa, "L'amore non va in vacanza".

Ieri mio cugino Andrea ( un ventenne geek e nerd) mi ha mostrato questo video, mi è piaciuto così tanto che ho deciso di condividerlo con voi (magari non l'avete ancora visto), è un filmato che riassume in un minuto sei settimane di un viaggio intorno al mondo, intrapreso da 3 ragazzi e sponsorizzato da Sta Travel Australia. Dopo alcune ricerche sul web ho trovato altri tre video simili e very cool....che ne pensate?!? I guess their citizens live a very happy and easy life! Australia, so distant, so wild.....some years ago I had the lucky opportunity to visit this amazing Country, so far the place with the highest quality life I've been to. Sydney really surprised me, half european (english actually), half american (really NY in a way) and half asian (Tokyo is not so far if you think about it). In Sydney there's a mix of many different people, more than in other big cities I've seen; businessmen, surfers, runners, japanese tourists..they all walk side by side in the city's streets! The Asian community is very big, I loved this aspect (if you are frequent readers of this blog you'll probably know how much I love Japan, so this shouldn't surprise you!;)) this asian contribute has created many asian-aussie couples with unbelievable beautiful kids!! Aussies seem to be all very relaxed and friendly, always ready to have a chat, to help you, to smile and to do sport...it seems like every single inhabitant of the city does jogging! If you go to Sydney you have to visit the Taronga Zoo, the place is amazing and even if I'm not a fan of zoos, this particular one is different. Animals live in big and very natural areas, it doesn't seem they're in prison like in other zoos....of course here you can find Kangaroos and Koalas (these one aren't so soft as you can think, their coat is very bristly!!That was really disappointing to me!By the way they're cute!)
Australia, così lontana, così selvaggia..alcuni anni fa sono stata così fortunata da poter visitare questo meraviglioso Paese, finora il posto con la qualità della vita più alta dove sia mai stata. Sydney mi ha davvero sorpresa, metà europea (più che altro inglese), metà americana (molto NY, in un certo modo) e metà asiatica (dopotutto a pensarci bene Tokyo non è poi così lontana). A Sydney c'è un mix di persone molto diverse fra loro, più che in altre città che ho visitato; uomini d'affari, surfisti, maratoneti, turisti giapponesi...camminano tutti gli uni accanto agli altri nelle strade della città! La comunità asiatica è piuttosto vasta, adoravo questo aspetto (se siete lettori assidui del blog sicuramente saprete quanto io sia innamorata del Giappone, per cui la cosa non dovrebbe sorprendervi!:)) questo contributo orientale ha creato un sacco di coppie miste, asiatico-australiane con figli incredibilmente belli! Gli Aussie sembrano tutti molto rilassati e amichevoli, sempre pronti a fare due chiacchiere, ad aiutarti, a sorridere e a fare sport....sembra che ogni singolo abitante della città faccia jogging! Se andate a Sydney non potete perdere il Taronga Zoo, è un posto fantastico ed anche se non sono una grande fan degli zoo, questo è diverso. Gli animali vivono in ampi spazi, molto naturali, non sembra che siano in prigione come negli altri zoo....ovviamente qui potete trovare i canguri e i koala (questi ultimi non sono così soffici come potete pensare, anzi, il loro manto è piuttosto ispido!! Per me questa scoperta è stata una delusione!Comunque sono carini ugualmente!)
Have you heard the quote "The best camera is the one you have with yourself"? Yesterday evening this camera was for me my blackberry...it's officially started my favourite season in Rome...SPRING!! If there is something that can make this city even more beautiful than it normally is, this thing is with no doubt spring...walking around the city centre in this period is really a sweet pleasure, the air is warm, there's a nice flower smell, there are many tourists enjoying their vacation, you can eat or drink outiside in a lovely atmosphere....my friday evening yesterday started this way, with a nice walk in Piazza di Spagna.....
Avete mai sentito la frase "La migliore macchina fotografica è quella che hai con te"? Ieri sera per me, questa è stata il mio blackberry....e' ufficialmente cominciata la mia stagione preferita a Roma...la PRIMAVERA!! Se c'è qualcosa che può rendere questa città ancora più bella del solito, questo qualcosa è senza ombra di dubbio la primavera....passeggiare in centro in questo periodo è un dolcissimo piacere, l'aria è calda, c'è un buon profumo di fiori, ci sono tanti turisti in vacanza, si può mangiare o bere all'aperto in una incantevole atmosfera....il mio venerdì sera ieri è iniziato così, con una passeggiata a Piazza di Spagna.....
